I have a ton of speakers and a subwoofer, I’d like to use them in a surround sound set up, I don’t know if i need some kind of audio hub where everything is connected and 5.1 is processed or you can somehow plug them all into your computer. I won’t use it as a home theater, more like for a home studio or just plain listening fun, but i am unsure how to proceed. Thanks!

This is something I want to do too but have never gotten round to doing it. I imagine you’d need 6 separate outputs feeding each speaker or two stereo pairs for front and back L/R and two single outputs for the ctr and sub. I did see a soundcard that had 5.1 and that had 6 mini jack outs and a 5.1 mixing in the software.
